2011 NFL Conference Championship Picks

NFC Championship: Packers (6) @ Bears (2)

Chase: As much as it pains me to say this. I’m gunna have to
pick the Packers in this one. Aaron Rodgers is on fire and I’m still waiting
for bad Jay Cutler to show up. Brett Favre Jr. Jr… Packers secondary is too
good, and won’t drop the interception opportunities like the Seahawks. Woodson
is good for one, Williams might be good for two, and you never know what Clay
Matthews is capable of doing.

Prince: Cheeseheads, Da Bears, who cares? The Dolphins are
at home… Am I the only one noticing Aaron Rodgers is lighting it up. Packers by
17… Just can’t stop thinking Nnamdi Asomugha is a free agent.

Fisch: I’m going with the second fastest quarterback in the
Rodgers family, Aaron Rodgers. He won’t be able to shake and bake defenders
like he did in Atlanta due to the bad turf, so instead of putting up 48 points,
he’ll only be able to put up 38. Packers Defense will have at least 3 pics, one
of them to the house. Cutler gets booed off the field in the fourth quarter
after throwing the dagger.

Chase: Packers 30 – Bears 21

Prince: Packers 35 – Bears 17

Fisch: Packers 38 – Bears 17

AFC Championship: Jets (6) @ Steelers (2)

Chase: How can you go against Big Ben? He goes off every
game. He can’t be sacked, but I think it’s the Jets’ year. Mike Wallace will be
on Revis Island.

Prince: Revis won’t cover Ward, he’s too old. When’s the
last time you’ve seen him make him a play over 15 yards?

Fisch: I’ve seen him run over Ed Reed!

Chase: The rest of the receivers will be on Cromartie Coast,
and it will come down to if Bart Scott and the Jets defense can sack Big Ben.
I’m taking the Jets by a foot. Just playing.

Prince: It’s good to know that the New York Football Jets
travel with a fireman, the fireman, because the Jets are gunna burn Terrible
Towels this weekend. Ben, tell all your receivers sorry, because by beating the
Ravens you got all your receivers a vacation on Revis Island! J-E-T-S JETS JETS
JETS! Go Green!

Fisch: I don’t even deserve to pick this game after I picked
the Pats to blow out the Jets last week. I’ll go with the Jets losing again, as
I have a hard time seeing the Jets beating Big Ben. He’s just a winner. Simple
as that.

Chase: Jets 24 – Steelers 14

Prince: Jets 16 – Steelers 10

Fisch: Steelers 23 – Jets 20

2011 NFL Divisional Playoffs

Seahawks (4) @ Bears (2)

Chase: Good Jay Cutler or bad Jay Cutler? Good Brett Favre
or bad Brett Favre? All one in the same. Or maybe they’re not. We would have to
ask Jenn Sterger. Or maybe we could text her. I may need to upgrade my data
plan. I think Cutler’s due, for a bad game that is.

Fisch: I agree with you on the Sterger aspect of things, but
even if Cutler shoots himself in the foot with his gunslinger mentality, the
Bears defense will be there to stop the bleeding. I think the Seahawks will
have a really tough time against the rested Bears defense. It’s hard to pick
against Pete Carroll’s swag, but Urlacher and Co. will take care of business.

Chase: I’m not expecting another big game out of Hasselbeck,
but I am expecting a strong performance out of Marshawn Lynch after one of the
greatest runs in playoff history. We could see a possible big game out of Leon
Washington as a returner and he’s the X-Factor.

Fisch: I’ll see your Leon Washington and raise you a Devin
Hester, especially with Carroll saying he’ll kick to him. Good luck. I foresee
a Super Bowl repeat with Hester running back the opening kickoff.

Chase: Seahawks 23 – Bears 17

Fisch: Bears 27 – Seahawks 17

Packers (6) @ Falcons (1)

Fisch: The Pack are the hottest team coming into the playoffs.
Aaron Rodgers has played as well as Favre did fifteen years ago when he
delivered them to the Super Bowl. Rodgers has a very legitimate chance of doing
the same this year.

Chase: I’m taking Rodgers with his Super Mario celebration
to take his team to the next level. (You see what I did there?) But not so fast
on the championship. Expect a heavy dose of Starks and Kuuuuuuuuuuuhn!

Fisch: It’s hard to pick a six over a one seed, but it’s not
every year you see a six with a passing attack like the Packers have. Add one
of the top defenses in the league to that and you get a win in the Georgia Dome.
Look for Charles Woodson to blow up at least two runs in the backfield.

Chase: I’m going with Fisch on this one. Gotta go with the
hot hand, at least for one more week.

Chase: Packers 20 – Falcons 14

Fisch: Packers 34- Falcons 27

Chase: Hey Fisch what’s on your chin there? A little bit of
bias?

Fisch: Well after they put up 45 points on your Giants, 34
isn’t that outrageous.

Ravens (5) @ Steelers (2)

Chase: Let’s get ready to rumbleeee!!

Fisch: Cue the fight music.

Chase: So who’s the hardest hitter on field? Ray Lewis… or
Hines Ward? Roethlisberger’s nose is broken, Ed Reed’s brother is missing,
James Harrison’s wallet is lighter, and Polamalu is out of shampoo. Even though
the Steelers have a more explosive offense, Ray Lewis is focused and Flacco
will have a breakout game in the playoffs. A breakout breakout game. A breakout
franchise QB game.

Fisch: Although Terrell Suggs does receive a golden star
from for his hilarious twitter pic earlier this week, I wouldn’t wanna give
Psycho Ward any more motivation after seeing the wood he put on Ed Reed.

Chase: I think Pittsburgh has had the upper hand in this
series for too long, and the wind is about change. The wind beneath the Raven’s
wings. Quote the Raven: Nevermore.

Fisch: There’s a reason Pittsburgh has had the upper hand
for this long. They’re winners. They are made to win in the playoffs. They’re
an incredibly physical team, and Big Ben’s ability to extend the play will show
up on Sunday.

Chase: Ravens 17 – Steelers 10

Fisch: Steelers 20 – Ravens 16

Jets (6) @ Patriots (1)

Fisch: I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard a coach talk more trash
then Rex Ryan. The most amazing part is, he has the either the guts or
stupidity to talk after that 45-3 shellacking last time he was in New England.
I’m not confident this outing will be all that much better.

Chase: The game is afoot. With Cromartie’s foul language and
Wes Welker putting his foot in his mouth, will this game live up to the trash talking
or will we have another Patriots beatdown? Not so fast. I think the Jets will
get back to the ground and pound, and the tide is coming in strong around Revis
Island. Swim Parallel to the shore. Expect two sacks from Jason Taylor and a
Jets upset.

Fisch: Please give me some of whatever you’re taking,
because this one won’t even be close. Belichick is an absolute genius,
especially when compared to the Dufus Maximus (see Ryan, Rex).

Chase: I think the Jets have too much pride and it’s now or
never. It’s time to payback the hoodie. J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS.

Fisch: What a New Yorker.

Chase: Jets 21 – Patriots 17

Fisch: Patriots 31 – Jets 13

The Miami Triumvirate

After all the shananigans, Pat Riley has pulled off something once
thought to be a dream. I can't believe athletes have finally realized
that for a little less money, you can work together and win
championships. Too bad the city of Miami doesn't deserve it.

Miami might take the title for fakest city in America. True fans in this
city are hard to find, or maybe I'm just biased because in Green Bay,
there's a 50+ year waiting list for season tickets to sit in freezing
weather to wear a Chessehead and watch the Green and Gold. But, why does
it take till game seven of a world series to sell tickets in South
Florida? We have had one of the top three players in the NBA for seven
years now and the Triple A has been halfway empty for much of those
seven.

But now we get King James and everyone is suddenly a Heat fan. Really?
Miami fans sure know how to ride the bandwagon.

Why do we get to watch the amazingness that this Triumvirate will
produce? Poor Cleveland. They have been let down once again. I guess
they should have made a bigger push to sign better sidekicks for Lebron
before this past year.

No one should rip Lebron for leaving Cleveland. I mean sure having an
hour long national show about your decision may be a little egotistical,
but don't blame him for not wanting to pass up an opportunity never
seen before. He gave everything he had for seven years to Cleveland. He
tried his best. Without Lebron, the Cavs last year would be probably
have been a 15 win team. Mo WIlliam and Delante West can only take you
so far. Now it's just time a for a new chapter. Lebron realized that you
can't do it on your own, and no one in NBA history really has. You need
a TEAM.

Now the Miami Heat need a TEAM. They have a core, but not a team.
Although, it just so happens this core is the most talented ever
created. Pat Riley's true genius will now come into the spotlight. Can
he convince veterans to join the heat by trading in money for a ring?
The Heat won't win one with just the Triumvirate. Look at the 06
championship Heat Team. Sure they had Wade and Shaq, but the J-Will to
run the point and slash in, with Posey on D and hitting big three's,
with Zo giving a huge boost off the bench. Haslem was clutch from the
baseline and Walker could draw a foul or two as well. Even old Gary
Payton got the job done. It was a complete TEAM. Pat Riley needs to
build another one. And I have a feeling he will.....

Everybody athlete or not should make an attempt to stay active. I encourage my athletes to run everyday wether they are in season and most certainly in their off season. They should also incorporate stretching and some core work. Now for my non athlete I suggest the same; daily running and stretching and core work as a base in their workout regimen then as they build their fitness level add new activities ie, swimming, biking or a spin class yoga or even a rec sport in a local league!! Mix it up to keep it fun and that will keep you active!!!
Hydrate!

Have you had a drink today? Remember hydration is an active part of your workout regimen even when your not on the field. Sports drinks are excellent while in practice or competition but during periods of non-activity water is your best option. Keys to getting your recommended H2O Intake....... Try to drink a glass of water with every meal. Students, make use of those water fountains in school and sip a little every chance you get. No fountains? Utilize coolers and water bottles. Anther important tip.... the first sign of thirst is the onset of dehydration. So hydrate and help your body achieve peak performance!
